Future time perspective of gifted children
Korábová, Sára ; High, Radka (advisor) ; Brummer, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the future time perspective of gifted children. The goal of this thesis is to explain the way gifted children think about their time perspective and what their motivation connected to this phenomenon is. The children taking part in this research were children who attended the summer science camp Běstvinka. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of talent, time perspective, and motivation. The second part deals with the research, including a description of the objectives, research questions, and the methodology used. The first goal of the research concerns the time perspective, where research questions were used to find out what type of time perspective prevails in children, how far in the future these children think, and which contents their future perspective has. Another goal was to describe the motivation of gifted children, which is why the research questions focused on the type of motivation most represented at school and the motivation to participate in the summer science camp Běstvinka. To examine the time perspective, Zimbardo's Time Perspective Inventory, Motivational Induction Method, and Cottle's Inventory of the Ten Most Important Experiences in Life were used. The Questionnaire of Motivational Sources of Learning Activities helped to determine...

High, Radka
This disertation thesis thematize the relationship to the future in high school students' and the diagnostic possibilities of this phenomena. We will describe the philosophical and primarily the psychological conception of time. The thesis focuses on the main theoretical concepts of time perspective, the cognitive-motivational theories and their relationship with achievement motivation. The empirical part has three goals: 1. The diagnostic of time perspective, 2. The description of students'relationship to the future, 3. The investigation of relationship between time perspective and achievement motivation. The analysis of the coding system of the Motivational Induction Method lead to improving this system. There was a battery of tests (quantitative and mixed methodology) used to diagnose the time perspective of students', namely Motivational Induction Method (Nuttin), Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (Zimbardo), Achievement Motivation Questionaire (Hrabal, Pavelková) and Motivational Sources of Learning Activities (Pavelková, Hrabal). The case studies that can show positives and/or negatives of used methods and individual ways of representing the future are presented in the end of the thesis. Vitošková, Veronika
TITLE: The Relationship between Time Perspective and Achievement Motivation AUTHOR: Mgr. Veronika Vitošková DEPARTMENT: Department of Psychology SUPERVISOR: Doc. PhDr. Isabella Pavelková, CSc. ABSTRACT: This dissertation addresses the relationship pupils and students to the future, the relationship between time perspective and achievement motivation. The close relationship between the given issue and volitional qualities of a person is also discussed. The theoretical part concentrates on the scientific views of a person's life time dimension, the relationship between the time perspective and the achievement motivation and the relation of these concepts to the issues of volition. The main emphasis is on cognitive and personality concepts of motivation of the time perspective (Gjesme, Nuttin, Lens, Zimbardo, from Czech publications on the concepts of perspective orientation by Pavelková) and on the traditional works about achievement motivation of Atkinson, Raynor and Heckhausen. In our analysis of the aforementioned theoretical concepts we concentrated primarily on finding overlaps, close relations and continuities within the described systems. The practical part represents a structured research of the time perspective, the achievement motivation and will of primary school pupils and secondary school...
Time perspective and fear about the future of pupils
Jelínková, Kristýna ; Pavelková, Isabella (advisor) ; Škaloudová, Alena (referee)
The thesis deals with the relationship between the time perspective and the concerns of second grade elementary school students. In the theoretical part we briefly introduce the time perspective and various theoretical views on it. Furthermore, we will get acquainted with the theory of Zimbardo and Boyd, from whose theory of the time perspective we are based on and use their diagnostic tool to examine the time perspective. Then we will introduce fear, its various concepts and define it against anxiety and concerns. Subsequently, we will focus on the theory of J. A. Gray, which we have chosen to examine fear. In the empirical part of the thesis we will present our research sample, which are pupils of the 8th and 9th grade of elementary school. Our goal is to explore the relationship between the future and fear in these students, and we also want to chart the specific concerns they have, about the future. We used both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine our goal. Quantitative methods include the Swedish version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (S-ZTPI) and the BIS / BAS questionnaire. Qualitative methods include open-ended questions, which we want to use to chart the specific concerns of the students and it will also help us to illustrate the results from the quantitative...
Future Through the Eyes of High School Students
Hanzlíková, Tereza ; High, Radka (advisor) ; Lukavská, Kateřina (referee)
This diploma thesis with the future through the eyes of senior high school students, especially with its contents and time location of these contents. The theoretical part presents the most famous time perspective theories and the relationship between adolescents and their future. The emhasis is on introducing czech and also foreign research on a similar topic. The empirical part has four goals: find out which future contents senior high school students are dealing with, 2. where these contents are located in time, 3. how important are the contents and 4. what is the relationship between the future contents and student's past and present. They were done semi-structured interviews within the first and the second goal, then these interviews were coded and interpreted by using elements of grounded theory. To answer the other two goals students filled out questionnaire Ten most important life events by Cottle. The discussion part presents results of the research and comparison with the results of other research. The most senior high school students deal (in the context of the future) with university study, profession, travelling, independence and making their own family. Time perspective and procrastination in college students
Böhm, Tomáš ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the time orientation of students of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic and to examine the links of the relevant perspective to the degree of the procrastinational behavior of the individual. The theoretical framework of the thesis focuses on a comprehensive presentation of the time perspective concept, especially in terms of the multidimensional approach of P. Zimbard, including the relevant diagnostic tool. Furthermore, the thesis describes the current phenomenon of procrastination in the concept of individual psychological directions and specific forms of procrastination. Based on the synthesis of the above-mentioned concepts, the study describes previous studies dealing with the interrelationships of procrastination and the creation of timeframes, whose specific elements represent the meritorious content of an empirical study of this work. For the correlation research, an extended version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory questionnaire is used in the time perspective, which, unlike previous research, will allow a detailed analysis of the potential presence of completely new relationships. To diagnose procrastination, the research probe uses the Procrastination Scale for Students questionnaire which, when compared...
